Anthony Martial, who is drawing interest from Turkey, is one of the players Manchester United is prepared to try and move during the January transfer window.

Amidst interest in the Frenchman’s services, Manchester United is waiting for Fenerbahce to confirm their interest in Anthony Martial.

Although United has the option to extend Martial’s stay by one more year, the 28-year-old is currently surplus to requirements under Erik ten Hag and is unlikely to be retained beyond the summer. Martial is in the final six months of his contract at Old Trafford.

The former AS Monaco player was not anticipated to draw attention during the January transfer window, as he has only started seven games this season. But it looks like Fenerbahce might try to get Martial out of his deal before its six months are up.

The Super Lig leaders are reportedly putting together a €8 million (£6.8 million) bid for the striker’s services, according to reports in Turkey. It seems improbable that United would obstruct Martial’s progress if such a proposal were to be made.

According to The Manchester Evening News, United is willing to cash in on the forward this month because they are not inclined to extend Martial’s contract due to his poor form and fitness concerns.

Martial joined the team in 2015, and attempts to sell him in the past have failed for a variety of reasons. Joel Glazer, a co-owner, is rumored to have personally intervened to keep the player from being sold during Jose Mourinho’s premiership. The player is well-known to be Glazer’s favorite.

But after agreeing to pay the Glazers £1.25 billion for a 25% share in the club, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has taken over as the head of sporting operations at Old Trafford. As such, the chief of Ineos will have the final say over all transfers, both in and out.

With Donny van de Beek joining Eintracht Frankfurt on a six-month loan with the option to make the move permanent, United has already had a busy month of departures.

It appears more and more likely that Jadon Sancho will follow the Dutchman out the door, as his former team, Borussia Dortmund, is trying to bring him back.

The Bundesliga powerhouses and United are presently negotiating a loan agreement for the winger, who has been out of commission since a fallout with Ten Hag in September. Though United is eager to reevaluate Sancho’s status in the summer, it is not anticipated that the deal will include a buyout option.
