Jadon Sancho is physically unaffected by his lack of playing time at Manchester United, and Borussia Dortmund is prepared to start him this weekend.

After his return to Germany, Jadon Sancho’s level of fitness has impressed Borussia Dortmund.

With his struggles at Manchester United seemingly over, the winger returned to the team that helped establish his career. Due to his altercation with Erik ten Hag, Sancho was frozen out and hasn’t played for the first team since September.

Because of this, after Sancho’s loan move was confirmed, some at Dortmund were worried about his physical state. His last competitive fixture was on August 26 against Nottingham Forest, but upon seeing him up close there are no issues with the player and he will feature this weekend against Darmstadt, reports Sky in Germany.

During his Bundesliga tenure at Dortmund, Sancho was a big hit. Despite his inability to repeat the form he displayed so frequently in Germany, United ultimately spent over £70 million to bring him back to the Premier League as a result of his exploits.

Sancho will be a member of Dortmund’s roster for the duration of the season for just a small loan fee. A wage agreement was also reached, as the Bundesliga team was unable to provide the kind of weekly payments that United were providing.

“It felt like ‘coming home’ when I walked into the dressing room today,” Sancho remarked after his return. I’ve always had a close relationship with the fans here, I know the club inside and out, and I’ve never lost touch with the administration. I can’t wait to play football with a smile on my face, see my teammates again, set and score goals, and help my team earn a Champions League spot.”

“Jadon is an absolute difference player, and I’m looking forward to seeing him back in black and yellow soon,” said Sebastian Kehl, sporting director of Dortmund, in a statement. He knows this city, Signal Iduna Park, our fans and our club.

“Even though he hasn’t played any competitive games in the past few months, we are sure that he will quickly settle back in with us, get into top form and use his qualities to help us achieve our goals for the season.”

Due to their recent form problems, Dortmund dropped to fifth place, prompting a change in the coaching staff. During his first stint at the club, Sancho collaborated with current manager Edin Terzic.
