Brentford wanted to replace Toney with an in-form striker, and Arsenal put up a bid for him.

Brentford reportedly desired to replace Ivan Toney with an in-form striker, and Arsenal has reportedly made an offer to sign him.

Arsenal requires a new forward.
According to numerous reports over the past few months, Arsenal is eager to sign a new number nine in order to give manager Mikel Arteta additional attacking options and a goal-scoring outlet.

The Gunners have just Gabriel Jesus, who’s now returned to training after a minor knee injury, and Eddie Nketiah to select from as their natural options.

This was demonstrated in their frustrating 2-0 FA Cup loss to Liverpool last weekend, as Arteta’s team missed numerous excellent opportunities. The game took place at the Emirates Stadium. Legendary midfielder and pundit Ray Parlour is among the prominent individuals with ties to the club who have urged Arsenal to sign a new striker in January.

“The striker position is going to be their weak point,” Parlour told TEAMtalk in the latter part of the previous season.

“I believe that is one area they need to improve on, as we had four excellent strikers in the teams I played for. Although Nketiah performed admirably by scoring his hat-trick over the weekend and I am aware that Jesus is currently out, there aren’t many options available right now.

“I’m sure Arteta will be searching for options if there is someone available, whether on loan or someone who isn’t playing frequently but who he knows can perform well. They currently lack that, and in order to pursue a goal, you have to make a change upfront.”

The star center forward Toney of Brentford, who is rumored to be eager to join Arsenal, is one player they have been constantly linked to strengthen their center-forward ranks.

However, Bees boss Thomas Frank recently poured cold water on the chances of Toney leaving for north London this window, unless they submitted a “unbelievable” offer.

After spending over £200 million last summer, sporting director Edu and the hiring team are also operating with a slightly smaller January budget, so they might need to get creative.

Arsenal makes a bid for Borja Mayoral.
In fact, The Sun claims they seem to be looking for considerably less expensive options than Toney, which is why they are interested in Borja Mayoral, the striker for Getafe.

It has been reported that Arsenal made a bid of £22 million to sign Mayoral in January. However, Getafe is unwilling to part with their star player unless they receive at least £39 million.

Remarkably, the report suggests that Brentford was being tipped to consider Mayoral as a potential Toney replacement.

With just 19 La Liga games played this season, the Spaniard has scored 12 goals, so it’s understandable why his club is holding out for a higher payment. Mayoral is an intriguing choice; reporters have referred to him as “top level” (Pedro Gonzalez).
