Even though we beat them at home, I have never played against a player as dangerously reckless as Him before in my career. I hope I get to play with Him one day. Alexander Issok talks about the ONE guy who stood out for Manchester United last night – Not Hujlund or Amad
Newcastle made things even worse for Ruben Amorim and Manchester United on Monday night, beating the Red Devils for the fourth time in a row.
From the start, it looked bad: Newcastle took control of the game right away, and it only took them three minutes to score the first goal. Alexander Isak scored his sixth goal in a row in the Premier League by easily heading in Lewis Hall’s cross.
The away team’s center has become one of the best in the league, and United’s old pivot had no answers. Newcastle had a huge advantage, and Isak missed a great chance to make it 2-0 before Joelinton finally did it 19 minutes in.
Joshua Zirkzee’s removal after 30 minutes was a damning sign of how badly United played (and Amorim’s strange team decision), but the home team did have a few bright spots near the end of the first half. Rasmus Hojlund and Casemiro both missed great chances to tie the game for Manchester United.
The second half was calmer as United finally took control of the game and had more chances to hit Martin Dubravka’s goal. In the same sequence, Harry Maguire hit the post and Matthijs de Ligt had a goal-bound shot blocked. Then, Christian Eriksen’s corner was headed just wide by replacement Leny Yoro.
Even though Manchester United was on the attack, Newcastle was able to keep them at bay and hold on for a rare league win at Old Trafford—their third at the stadium since 1972.
After losing to Ipswich, Eddie Howe’s team is only three points behind the Blues in fourth place.
